UPS System Battery Monitoring
Large UPS systems consist of many VRLA batteries in a combination of series and parallel configurations. Investing heavily in UPS systems for your mission critical applications will not be totally secure without a good Battery Monitoring System.

Knowing that a battery can fail in little as a few days, it is necessary to monitor the battery health on a daily basis for large critical systems. Battery replacement can be a costly exercise and the use of a Battery Monitoring system which monitors ambient temperature, float voltage settings, conductance, cell voltage, string voltage, cell resistance, connection resistance and Sulfur can help to extend the life of the battery. Most UPS systems have inbuilt battery monitoring. However, these either measure the Ohmic value per string or cell but will not be a substitute for a proper Battery Monitoring System.
